About ACTI

The Agentic Coding Tool Index (ACTI) is an independent, non-profit, open source research initiative founded in late 2025. Our mission is to track the adoption and impact of agentic coding tools among professional developers.

As AI-assisted development evolves from simple autocomplete to full agentic collaboration, traditional benchmarks alone no longer capture how developers actually work. ACTI provides a complementary signal—measuring real-world tool usage, productivity perceptions, and adoption patterns across experience levels.

We conduct regular surveys distributed through developer communities like Hacker News, collecting self-reported data on tool preferences, usage intensity, and perceived productivity impact. All data is published openly under the MIT License.

ACTI is not affiliated with any AI company or tool vendor. We believe transparent, independent measurement helps developers make informed choices and helps the industry understand where things are headed.
